Foods from Singapore

Hi! It's me again. hehe! As I have posted earlier that I will try to snap some foods related photos of foods that i have during my Singapore trip.

I stayed at Swissotel The Stamford and we got complimentary breakfast. Here are the foods I had at their cafe.

It's a breakfast buffet and usually during vacation, I don't dare to try many kinds of different foods to prevent myself falling sick or anything. haha! So, foods that I ate are very limited.

This is chicken porridge/ congee with some Japanese pickles, spring onion and.. I don't know what's that brown color deep fried thing call.. but it goes well with it. hehe!

I ate 2 yogurt (grapefruit and blueberry) and a bowl of white miso soup. hehe!

A plate of salad (with no dressing) with terriyaki salmon. Hmm.. I don't really like how the salmon tasted. hehe!

Last but not least, some fruits. Then I headed off to shopping mall. LOL!

After hours of walking, I bought myself a burrito from Senor Burrito at Raffles City shopping mall. It's pretty good!

It's fresh from oven! hehe!

Yummy~!

At night time, I had my dinner at Ichiban Boshi, located at Suntec shopping mall. I had dinner with my cousin sister, who is an expatriate in Singapore. She brought me there. hehe! The foods are good; however there are slight differences from what I used to eat in my own country. Not much difference though I can't describe what's the difference. haha! Anyhow, I think it's yummy. Satisfied~!

This is what I had. A set meal.

The restaurant claimed that their soba is hand-made. It's elastic (did I use the right word?) haha! I really enjoyed the soba.

My cousin sister told me that their cheese cake is good. It's pretty good but not super good. hehe! I had chocolate cheese cake.

I also had this drink, which is made from calpris grape with banana syrup. I find it weird to have banana syrup. hehe! However, it's not a bad drink afterall. ^_^

This restaurant was crowded with customers. See those customers have to queue up to wait for their seats?

Overall, I have enjoyed my dinner at this restaurant. My rating for this place will be 8/10. Good environment, good service, good price with good foods. hehe!

The next day, I headed to Orchard road and went to ION Orchard. I tried this ice cream, which is located at B4. This is sakura soft ice cream. Delicious~!

I brought my little cousin to walk around Orchard and we ended up wandering around Far East Plaza and we bought this bubble milk tea. I remember I had this a lot while I was in Taiwan. hehe! However, I feel that the taste is somehow different from what I had in Taiwan. I prefer those I had in Taiwan. haha!

I had another one from sweet talk, which is just right in front of Far East Plaza too. Not too good as well.. still different from those I had in Taiwan. However, I still like it. haha!

During Christmas night, I went to Orchard again. It was so crowded!! LOL! But the lightings were beautiful. Anyway, I had dinner at Paragon with my aunt and her family after shopping. hehe! We had chinese foods.

This is fried bean curd I think? I love it. However, the bean curd is not as smooth.

I don't know what this is and I hardly eat it too. >_<

I forgot what soup is this. Taste yummy!!

Sweet and sour pork (the chinese style). Love it!

This is a kind of vegetable with some kind of chili? Recommended by the waitress. Gosh! I don't really know the name of the dishes because I came in after the order was taken. haha! But this is not spicy and it's good!

Will continue more foods photos of Singapore tomorrow. hehe! Stay tune~!

Today's lunch

I came home late in the afternoon after work today and I was really hungry; hence I gotta make something from what I have to fill my hungry stomach. haha!

In addition, recently I have bought an instant soup out of the cuteness of the product. LOL! I don't buy or hardly buy instant soup (not even instant miso) but this product is too cute; hence I bought it to see what is it all about. haha!

First up is the photo of my lunch. It's zaru soba. The easiest and fastest meal that I can prepare for my hungry stomach. hehe! On the left is the dipping sauce and stir fry fish sausage. I love fish sausage!! If anyone of you are curious on how to make zaru soba, it's very easy. Watch my past tutorial here. Due to I was still using my old camera on that time, the quality is much worse than the videos I have now. ^^; Also, I didn't have camera stand yet on that time; hence I have to hold a camera at one hand and cook at the same time with the other hand. Therefore, it's slightly shaky. Hmm.. perhaps I shall redo those old videos sometime in the future?

Now's the instant wakame (seaweed) soup. It's a soup that contains dried wakame, dried pikachu kamaboko, sesame seeds, flavor seasonings (of course MSG included) and some dried spring onion. This is how it looks like.

Easy to prepare. haha! Open the sachet, pour the things into a bowl. Can you see those cute pikachu? haha!

Next, add in hot boiling water (about 150ml) and wait for 3 minutes or so. Stir to dissolve.

When the ingredients come in contact with hot water, it will soften and expanded.

So, there you go! Instant wakame soup with pikachu's face. haha! Cute~!

However, I am not going to buy it anymore. Why? Well, the taste.. I am not sure is this psychological or something.. somehow when I knew it contains MSG, I keep thinking of MSG; hence I guess psychologically, it has ruined the taste. haha! I must say this does not taste bad at all, yet it doesn't taste super good. However, it does have the fresh-taste of wakame.

That's all from me today.

December tutorial (Rilakkuma bento)

I have finally done and filmed my December bento tutorial.

Many of you know that I am going to make Rilakkuma.

At first I planned to make a sitting Rilakkuma; however someone on youtube requested me to make a bento where the bento lid could be covered. So, I changed it to make a lying Rilakkuma instead.

Due to the limited time and space, I made just the heads of both Rila and Kori. ^^;

Let's see a few photos of this month's upcoming bento tutorial.

This month's bento consists of karaage (japanese fried chicken), konnyaku with shiitake, cold salad in aburaage (tuna, avocado, tobikko, mayo and water chestnuts), and shredded cabbage as the base. The flower in between both Rila and Kori is made of cucumber.

The video will be uploaded either by next week or the week after. So, stay tune~!

Dorayaki as gift

I have done my 2nd batch of Dorayaki today.

I must say that this is so much better than the first. hehe!

I have more confidence in making this for the actual gift.

I just wanted to share a few photos of the Dorayaki that I have made today.

This is the end result of the Dorayaki gift that I plan to give it to my hairstylist and the salon staffs for Christmas.

What do you guys think? I have filmed the video for this too and will upload it by this week.

After this video, Rilakkuma will be next.

Please stay tune~! ^_^

So, if you guys received this as a gift, how do you feel? Please let me know.

どら焼き~ Dorayaki

I have just made a few Dorayaki. Even though dorayaki is popular in Japan or everywhere in Asia for that matter (especially Doraemon's world), I haven't really made one before because it's too easily accessible. haha!

However, in this coming Christmas, I plan to make something.. a gift for my hairstylist and staffs in the salon that I often go to.

Apart from friends and family, my hairstylist (whoever he/ she is) is a very important person in my life. haha!

As little as people around me know, hairstylist has a very special place in my heart. I always tell my friends that my theory of getting a good hairstylist is like getting a good boyfriend or a best buddy. Sounds weird I know but that's just me. People who are close to me do know how important a hairstylist is to me.

Let me share something at here (since no one really know who I am.. due to my almost anonymous identity in this internet world), I shouldn't be afraid to share this. haha! Whenever I want to go the hair salon, my heart will be racing really fast and nervous. haha! Right before I step into the salon, my heart beats real fast until I feel like it's going to jump out of my heart cavity. haha! The feeling is like going for a first date with someone you like. *^_^*

I know this may sound weird to you but that's the feeling I have with hairstylist and hair salon. LOL! When some people ask me what kind of guy that can easily capture my heart/ attention? I will say a good hairstylist. haha! As said, once I got a good hairstylist and is happy with him/ her, it's very likely for me to stick with him/ her. Being a good hairstylist, apart from his skills, we got to have that "click" between us. I will have to have a comfortable feeling with him, someone whom I truly truly trust. Even without saying a word, he knew exactly what I needed.

So, since whoever read this post now knew how special a hairstylist is to me, making this dorayaki is really meaningful to me. I wish to make it as good as possible. Usually, when I am filming my bento tutorial, I don't usually make any prior to the filming. I don't really practice or anything; hence I shall say this dorayaki gift is my first practice, weeks prior to the actual one. haha! So, you guys can tell how important to me for this dorayaki gift to be successful.

I wish I can find more people to try my dorayaki. haha!

I have typed too much. Here are the photos. This is just my first batch. Will make a few in these few weeks to come and I will post up the actual gift at here to share it with everyone.

I plan to make this special gift with a special meaning on how important hairstylist is to me into a video. I will upload both Rilakkuma and dorayaki bento in this month itself.

Thank you for reading my blog today.
